LISA PASOLD TO JUDGE THE CURRENT BEVERLY PRIZE!

We are delighted to announce the superb judge for our International Beverly Prize for Literature in any genre, for 2020 - Lisa Pasold! She will be reading ALL the submissions without sifters and will announce a shortlist shortly before Christmas, with the winner to be decided no later than the second week of January, 2021. Pasold is an especially apt selector, as she is expert across multiple genres.

Lisa Pasold is originally from Montreal. She is a storyteller, journalist, novelist, and poet, with 5 critically-acclaimed books. Lisa’s 2012 poetic narrative, Any Bright Horse, was nominated for Canada’s prestigious Governor General's Award. Her first poetry collection, Weave was called “a masterpiece” by Geist Magazine. Her second, A Bad Year for Journalists, was nominated for an Alberta Book Award and was transformed into a theatre piece. Her most recent poetry collection, The Riparian, was published by Frontenac House, Calgary. Montreal’s Lemonhound Magazine says: “A spectacular agglomeration of the dank and murky, the dark and forsaken… The Riparian seamlessly blends poetry and prose, taking the reader through tragedy, loss, and transformation along the sodden New Orleans riverbank.” Her poetry has appeared in reviews such as Fence, The Atlanta Review, The Los Angeles Review, and New American Writing. Lisa’s feature writing has appeared in a wide variety of media, including The Chicago Tribune, The Globe & Mail, CBC radio, and Billboard; she is also the co-writer and host of the Discovery TV travel series, Paris Next Stop. She has taught writing and memoir in workshops from the Yukon to the Gulf Coast, and at the American University in Paris.  www.lisapasold.com
