Burn's poetry is both thoughtful and assured. He engages, amuses and intrigues throughout. Included are memories from a different age, be they reminiscence or regret. With a plethora of beautifully crafted images, each poem in the collection is an understated, quiet success.

Gale Burns is a Writer-in-Residence at both the Kingston Writing School and Sydenham Arts Festival. He convenes the Shuffle poetry series at the Poetry Cafe in London, and was a 2012 Hawthornden Fellow. His work has been translated into French and Slovenian.

From Weird hitchhikers to playground lore, from a caravan part to the wild Pacific, these punchy, slant poems 'set loose life' in all its brilliant contradictions. - HELEN MORT
