Joseph Allen Boone’s novel, Furnace Creek, has received First Place for First Fiction in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, in the Long Novel category (90,000 words +) which claims the honour of being the world's largest not-for-profits awards program for independent publishers.
The Awards ceremony will be held at the famous Newberry Library in Chicago on June 23rd.
The novel, published by Black Spring Press Group, recently received an Honourable Mention in the General Fiction category for the Eric Hoffer Awards, where it was also short-listed for the Grand Prize and a finalist (one of six) for the “The First Award" for debut novel. In addition, Furnace Creek has also been short-listed for the prestigious FOREWARD Indies Award in LBGT+ fiction, winner to be announced June 20th.
Colm Toibin, Michael Cunningham, Viet Nguyen, and Marianne Wiggins number among the novelists have praised the Furnace Creek, which the Los Angeles Review of Books calls "hilarious and heartrending . . . Deeply satisfying."
